Страбон упоминает Дамастион, не указывая его местонахождения (VII, 7, 8; VIII, 6, 16). Существует ряд гипотез о его местонахождении. Находки монет происходят из южной Сербии, восточной Македонии и западной Болгарии (Попович, П.). Самым последним предложенным местом было местонахождение Кршевица, к юго-востоку от Вранье (южная Сербия) (Попович, П., Раскопки Кале-Кршевица 2001-2004, Бюллетень Национального музея Вранье, 33: 25-49, 2005.).
