• В «Последних годах и смерти» он получил месячный отпуск . Должно ли это быть «месячным»?

• В том же разделе: Однажды вечером в сентябре 1917 года... у него начался сильный кашель . Эту часть можно было бы сделать короче.

Можете ли вы быть более конкретными, пожалуйста? Какие именно предложения?

Я имею в виду часть в целом. Я думаю, что ее можно сократить до строки.

Не вижу причин.
